Watching your child as he/she busies himself in a chosen activity and interacting with other children in a pleasant environment is an exciting experience. You will observe the Montessori directress (Montessori preferred "directress" to "teacher") in a guiding role, introducing new materials individually or in a group, moving from child to child as she feels their need for direction and assistance. A primary task for the directress is careful observation of each child in order to determine his/her needs and to gain the knowledge needed to prepare the environment to aid in each child's growth.
